Respectively, the story isn’t titled as the “true” story behind the teddy bear. The first paragraph sums it up.
“The teddy bear is the namesake of President Theodore Roosevelt and originated in 1902 when the president refused to kill a bear that his hunting party had captured. But there’s much more to the story than just this information.”
This is a fact and undisputed, and that is the part many people know, but many other things happened for it to be ultimately known as a teddy bear. If it wasn’t for the cartoon and Michtom putting the bear in his store window, we might never have had the teddy bear. So, I don’t believe it’s sensationlistic at all, just the full story of how it became popular. We might just have a difference in semantics with the title.
